“When I think back on The Opera Circuit many different things come to mind. I basically recorded the majority of the album confined to my bed at home after surgery on my spine and my family and friends had to dangle the mics and cables over the fan at the top of the room. I remember the intense pain I was in during the bulk of the recording and the meanings of each and every song, being very close to my heart. It was a strange dark time. It was my attempt to make one of the grandest folk records I had ever heard, and I think, listening back to the 10th Anniversary version now, I might have just accomplished that. but, in the end, that is all up to you, the listener. thank you for listening and being a part of the journey.” Micah P Hinson

To Celebrate 10 years of MICAH P. HINSON & THE OPERA CIRCUIT, Bronson Recordings and Micah P. Hinson decided to release a very special edition of this masterpiece. Since the first pressing is now out of print, a complete remastered edition is now available on transparent vinyl, with a new artwork and, for the first time ever, lyrics included. There is also a very limited edition that come out with a 7” containing 3 tracks played on strings.
“Micah P. Hinson and the Opera Circuit” was his second album and it was recorded in his home town of Abilene, while Hinson was housebound and addicted to heavy-duty painkillers, after a play fight with a friend left him with an excruciating back injury. His sensual noir drawl is leavened by delicate string and horn arrangements on the likes of ‘It’s Been So Long’. Closer ‘Don’t Leave Me Now’, a sparse, broken ballad, pulls off the trick of being unsettling and powerful.
